ReqIF Export and Import
The ReqIF feature is still under development. Changes may be made without prior notice.
Pre-requisites
In case of restricted access, to use ReqIF export and import in R4J, the user must have “ReqIF Export/Import“ permissions. See Managing User Permissions.
There should be existing ReqIF Field Mappings. See Configuring ReqIF mappings.
Generate a new export via Project Tree View
The ReqIF interface allows you to export your Jira issues into the standardized ReqIF file format. It allows you also an import ReqIF files from other sources. The created and accepted file format follows the ReqIF standard 1.2.
Switch to the tree view of the project you want to generate a new export on:
either click on Requirements in the main navigation bar and select a project from Current Project or Recent Projects
or select Requirements > View all projects from the main navigation bar and select a project from the list.
Select an item from the project tree.
The information used for the export depends on the project tree selection.Click on the Export button located in the top right corner and select ReqIF. to open the export dialog.
Select the mapping configuration you want to use for generating the export.
The field mapping between the Jira issues and the fields in the ReqIF XML file are shown.Click on Export to start the export.
A progress bar is shown. If can close this dialog, the export is finished in the background.
To download the result file, click the Export > ReqIF buttons in the top right corner again.When the export background process finished you get a result summary with the option
to Download the generated Word file.

Import an existing ReqIF file into the Project Tree View
Switch to the tree view of the project you like to update or extend with the data from the ReqIF file:
either click on Requirements in the main navigation bar and select a project from Current Project or Recent Projects
or select Requirements > View all projects from the main navigation bar and select a project from the list.
Select a folder item from the project tree.
The new data is stored below of the selected folder.Right click on the item to open the context menu, select Import ReqIF.
Click Choose File to select the ReqIF file for import.
The file format for import must follow the ReqIF standard, or it could be (ZIP) compressed.
Select the mapping configuration you want to use for the import.
Only mappings with Project specified can be used for import.
The field mapping between the Jira issues and the fields in the ReqIF XML file are shown.Press Import to start the process.
The finished process will show an import statistic.
