Problem

Users are unable to create folders in the R4J tree.

Cause

The folders used to organize requirements in the project tree are themselves Jira issues with their own type. Causes could vary from “Folder Issue Type” not being set in Configuration to project type restrictions and/or project issue type scheme configuration. See Specify Folder Issue Type for more details.

Solution

You must be a Jira administrator to perform the steps below.

  1. Make sure to configure a Jira issue type to enable folder features in your R4J trees. We recommend creating a new issue type “Folder“ along with other requirements issue types.

  2. Use a Company-managed project which has complete control of all global Issue Types. See Team-managed and Company-managed projects.

  3. Add your configured Folder Issue Type to the R4J project’s Issue Type Scheme. See Add, edit, and delete an issue type.
