Overview

The reading view displays the items of a tree folder for convenient reading, using the same hierarchical structure. To access the view, select a folder in the tree and then click the Reading View icon above the tree.

The reading view displays images inline, both in issues and folders. You can attach images to requirements or folders and add links in their descriptions to achieve this.

Operations

Open detail view

  • Click on the issue key of an issue to open it in R4J detail view.

  • Click the Detail View icon above the tree to toggle between the reading view and detail view.

Inline editing

Click on an issue’s summary or description to enable edit mode.

Clicking outside of the input field automatically saves any modified content unless changes are discarded with the Cancel button.

Due to Jira library limitations, there are elements used by the Jira Rich Text Editor (RTE) that cannot be supported by R4J. These are Files, Media (Images), Mentions, and Emojis.
If you try to edit an RTE field containing any of these elements, an inline prompt will give you the option to edit it via the Jira issue dialog.

Display fields

By default, the reading view displays the key, summary, and description of requirements. To add additional fields select the desired fields in the Display Fields dialog and confirm the selection with the Display button. The selection of fields is saved for the user and applied from now on.

Expand and collapse

Click on the caret on the left of an issue key to expand or collapse items under it.

Context menu

Hover on an issue in the reading view and click on the ellipses () that appears on the left side of the issue key. The context menu provides the same options as in the tree view. See https://easesolutions.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/R4JC/pages/2114388288/Project+Tree+View#Context-Menu-Operations.
