Problem with first installation
After installing the Requirements Management for JIRA add-in for Microsoft Excel, the JIRA tab does not show up.
Solution A
The most likely reason for that is a missing dependency to a required runtime library.
Follow these steps to install the missing dependency:
- Download installer from the here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=140384
- Follow the steps in the installation wizard
- Uninstall the R4J Excel Add-in in Programs and Features
- Install the R4J Excel Add-in following the steps described here.
Solution B
Installing a 32Bit AddIn into a 64Bit Office and vice versa will not work. This is independent of your Windows version, i.e. a 32Bit Windows can only run 32Bit Office, but a 64Bit Windows can run 32Bit Office or 64Bit Office.
Follow these steps to identify your Office version:
- Open Excel and create a new empty file
- Click "File" and "Account"
- Click "Info on Excel" and check the first line
- If it reads something like "Microsoft Excel 2016.... 32 Bit" you are running a 32bit Office
- If it reads something like "Microsoft Excel 2016.... 64 Bit" you are running a 64bit Office
- Close Excel and uninstall the Requirements Management for JRIA addin-in For Microsoft Excel
- Follow this link to our Requirements Management for JIRA add-in for Microsoft Excel and download and install the correct installer
Problem after re-installation
After re-installing the Requirements Management for JIRA add-in for Microsoft Excel, the JIRA tab does not show up any more.
Solution
The reason for that is that the COM Add-in is disabled.
Follow these steps to enable the plugin again:
- Within Excel navigate to File > Options
- Select tab Add-ins
- Select at Manage drop down list: COM Add-ins, press Go..
- Enable checkbox at Excel to Jira Integration
- Press OK
