T4J Installation
Overview
You need to be a Jira Administrator to install T4J – Test Management for Jira and manage plugins. Make sure you have the latest version of the Universal Plugin Manager (UPM) installed.
After successful installation of T4J using one of the methods described below, you can begin exploring the plugin by activating a project - see Managing Projects.
Technical requirements
The system requirements and recommendations to install the T4J – Test Management for Jira plugin are the same as the Jira installation requirements.
The minimum supported Jira version is 8.8 for the releases since T4J 1.9.4. Refer to the compatibility list in the Marketplace Version History. Note that Jira 7.12 is only supported up to T4J 1.9.1 as a manual download.
Installation via UPM
As a Jira Administrator, navigate to Administration > Manage apps > Find new apps.
Enter “T4J” as search criteria.
Select either “Buy Now” or “Free Trial” and confirm the app installation.
Installation via Manual Download
Download the installation file of the latest version of R4J from the version history at the Atlassian Marketplace.
As a Jira Administrator, navigate to Administration > Manage apps > Manage apps.
Select Upload app.
In upload app dialog, browse for the installation file previously downloaded and select Upload.
Recommended Issue Type for Test Cases
Although T4J does not require the use of any special issue types, having a particular issue type to distinguish test cases from other sorts of issues is a good idea. Therefore, if you do not already have an issue type such as Test Case, we highly recommended creating it before starting to use T4J.
If you are also using R4J – Requirements Management for Jira, then the issue type “Test Case” is already available, since the installation of R4J creates this as well as a number of other predefined issue types. Please see documentation here: R4J Installation | Project Creation Template
