Connection to a server could not be established

 Problem

Creation of instance settings fails with “No Jira instance detected in given URL“

 Solution

• check the string for typos

• compare the URL with the string used in your web browser. Some instances need a “/jira” after the base URL.

• When the target server is in an VPN environment verify the connection of your client to the server.

• When your Jira server uses a self signed certificate: add the CA certificate to the “Trusted Root Certificates” at your client
