Overview

The fields that are displayed in the project tree and the reading and tabular views can be configured to allow each user to see the information they find most useful in a given view. This is done using the Display Fields dialogs.

There are two ways to open the dialogs:

  • In the Project Tree view, open the context menu of the root item in the tree and select Configure display fields.

  • In the Reading and Tabular views, select the item Display Fields in the R4J navigation bar.

Display Fields dialogs

The dialogs have two columns of fields side-by-side, Available and Selected. The left column shows the available fields. The right column shows the selected fields. What is displayed above the columns depends on the individual type of dialog:

  • Tree View Display Fields: The items “Issues” and “Folders” are shown, allowing for different selections of display fields depending on whether the item in the tree is an issue or a folder.

  • Reading View Display Fields: By default the items “Issues” and “Folders” are shown, allowing for different selections of display fields depending on whether the item in the tree is an issue or a folder. It is possible to configure the display fields of individual issue types by adding them to the list. If the list contains at least one issue type, the item “Issues” is renamed “Others”. The available fields are all the system and custom fields defined in the Jira instance.

  • Tabular View Display Fields: The only item shown is “Issues” (since the columns in the tabular view are determined only for issues, not for folders). The available fields are all the system and custom fields defined in the Jira instance.

Available fields

The list of fields regarded as available depends on the type of view:

  • Tree View Display Fields: The available fields are a predetermined list of system fields.

  • Reading View Display Fields: The available fields are all the system and custom fields defined in the Jira instance. Note that if a given field is not defined for an issue, the value is displayed as “none” in the reading view.

  • Tabular View Display Fields: The available fields are all the system and custom fields defined in the Jira instance. Note that if a given field is not defined for an issue, the cell in the table for the value is displayed as “none” or empty in the tabular view.
