A traceability matrix is a two-dimensional matrix used in requirements management, software development, and other fields to establish and track the relationships between different artifacts. It provides a way to demonstrate the alignment and coverage between various requirements, design elements, test cases, and other project deliverables.

Click on an empty cell to add a relation between the work items. See Adding and Deleting links below

Delete link

Click on a cell with a link to delete the link. See Adding and Deleting links below

Configure View

Through this option, you can configure the matrix by selecting the work items you want to display in columns and rows. You can also choose the type of link you want to display between the work items.

  • Queries: Select a Query as the source for the selected axis.

  • Work items type: Select which work item types you would like to see in the axis.

  • Link types: Define the types of links to be displayed in the matrix.

By pressing Show, a matrix is generated showing the selected scope in the columns and rows. The links of the selected types are shown inside the matrix, indicating a link relationship between the work items.

Adding and deleting links

From the matrix, new links can also be added between the displayed work items. To do so, click on the cell intersecting the two work items that you want to add the link to. Please note that you can only link types selected in the configure view. 

To delete an existing link, just click on the desired link in the matrix. A confirmation popup allows you to confirm the deletion. If there is more than one link type between the work items, you can unselect the links you don't want to delete.
